
A brief overview of the history of cannabis including the ever changing legal landscape and the current trends we see with claims.

Peter Sanchez started his insurance career with Prudential Insurance in Pennsylvania. In 1989, Prudential moved him to their commercial subsidiary in Los Angeles. After the Northridge earthquake, Pete was a member of Prudential’s Relocation Team and the CAT team. In 2001 he joined Topa Insurance Company where he held various claim management positions. Today, he is AVP Property Claims Manager with Golden Bear Insurance focusing on Cannabis and Commercial Property. Prior to Golden Bear, Pete’s claim experience included cannabis, commercial property, general liability, E&O, excess, garage keepers, homeowners, personal & commercial auto, umbrella and workers compensation. He lived in the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) managing catastrophe claims after hurricanes Irma and Maria. He has audited, handled and managed claims in over 21 states and territories. Pete graduated from Temple University and holds adjuster licenses in California and USVI.
Kim Moody is an experienced claims leader with 20 years of insurance and legal experience, with a focus on catastrophic property and casualty claims. Areas of expertise includes excess and umbrella general liability, labor law, commercial auto/trucking, gas and oil, products, multinational claims, trial monitoring, managing outside counsel and building teams of result-orientated claims adjusters. Currently, Kim is Vice President of Claims. Prior to joining Golden Bear, Kim was Head of Complex P&C Claims at AXIS Insurance Company where she provided oversight on the highest exposure claims and severity trials. Kim also was a Vice President of Excess Claims at ACE/Chubb Insurance Company where she handled complex severity claims. Kim’s insurance career started with AIG where she handled environmental claims. Kim began her career as an Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, New York and then transitioned to a civil trial attorney, focusing on insurance defense and insurance fraud.
